Listen to Macedonia’s Entry for the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest! “Dance Alone” Jana Burčeska
Could 2017 be the year that Macedonia finally wins the Eurovision Song Contest? Macedonia’s entry Dance Alone, sung by the talented Jana Burčeska, has fast become a fan favorite with close to 700,000 views on YouTube after only 4 days of its debut. The 2017 Eurovision Song Contest will be held May 9-13 in the Ukrainian capital Kiev, with Macedonia performing at the Second Semi-Final on May 11th for a chance to make it to the Grand Final on May 13th.
The theme for the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest is “Celebrate Diversity” and the international team behind the hit Dance Alone embodies just that. The catchy song was written and produced by Boris-lav Milanov, Joacim Persson, Alex Omar, and Florence A – known together as Symphonix International. The creative video was directed by Sergey Zhelezko and filmed at the famed Nu Boyana Film Studios in Sofia, Bulgaria. Preparations are also underway to make the performance a success with Macedonia enlisting Ambra Succi, choreographer of the winning 2012 performance Euphoria by Loreen from Sweden. It was also announced this week that Jana’s styling for the contest will be done by the talented Macedonian designer Antonija Ristovska.
Jana first came on the Macedonian music scene in 2011 when she placed 5th on the first season of Macedonian Idol. She later performed at many different music festivals in Macedonia, with Dance Alone being her biggest hit so far. Based on the initial reception of Dance Alone, the future looks very bright for this young and talented Macedonian singer.

[I am Macedonian does not support or condone the use of the derogatory term “FYR” before or after the name Macedonia. We hope that the Eurovision Song Contest abandons the derogatory term and begins to refer to Macedonia the right way – as just Macedonia.]
